Husky Blu found his way to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter in a very typical way for shelter dogs-a stray puppy found on the side of the road. A puppy alone, uncertain why he was there. A good Samaritan picked him up and contacted the shelter. While the shelter advertised him as a stray trying to locate his family, the good Samaritan asked to foster Blu until his family could be found. No one ever came forward as his owner so the good Samaritan chose to continue to foster until Blu could be formally released and made available for adoption. During that time, Blu and the family dog shared the home. The match was perfect. While the two were playing one day, Blu was injured. It was later determined at a local emergency vet that Blu had fractured a leg. Friends stepped up to cover those emergency room expenses to stabilize Blu. The good Samaritan/foster then arranged for a surgical repair for Blu and confirmed that he would cover the additional expenses. Blu recovered very well from that surgery and that good Samaritan signed the paperwork to make Blu official as part of his family. Friends of SCAS was able to cover those initial expenses to make sure that he was stable for surgery. Blu became a ‘foster fail’ that day and is now thriving in his forever home.
