Della, a young female German Shepherd , was brought to the shelter after she was hit by a car and then surrendered to local sheriffs. She had somewhat extensive leg injuries. Following a full evaluation, it was determined that she indeed had a broken leg. The leg was repaired in surgery with plates and screws and an extensive rest period was needed to allow for the best possible long-term result. The shelter staff and volunteers stepped up and cared for her as needed. A second surgery was later needed to remove the plate that had begun to move as Della became more mobile. The result was a completely successful repair. Della then found her forever home shortly after the second recovery. Friends of the Saratoga County Animal Shelter saved the day for this beautiful girl.
